Before 2020, workplaces gaslit their employees into thinking that their job cannot be done remotely and it is absolutely crucial for them to commute for long hours to work.

While <a href="https://merisehat.pk/disease/covid-19">COVID </a>did not do any good to the world, it did bless us with remote work. It also made us realize that evil corporate companies just want to contain us in one building and treat us like a hamster on wheel. With most of the workforce spending so many years on the hamster wheel, the new work from home trend completely changed their lives and opened their eyes to a whole new world of opportunities, unicorns and rainbows.

We realized that work does not have to be boring anymore. More importantly, WFH does not have to be from &ldquo;home&rdquo;. It could be from anywhere as long as you get the work done right?

This is what most people are exploring now. With the help of video call effects, there is a massive rise in &lsquo;hush trips&rsquo; where people are able to freely travel as they work but obviously without taking leaves from their workplace. Old school Gen X seems to have a ginormous issue with others enjoying their lives and getting work done but as we progress towards a more digital lifestyle, the oldies will be eventually forced to embrace the change rather than trying to control the change or running away from it.

When it comes to Pakistan, we always ensure that we never accept new practices with open arms and the older generations make this worse. Technically, your hush trips should not have to be so hushed. Workplaces should not have a control over our whereabouts as long as we are getting the work done.

The question remains, should your workation really be hushed? The idea of hiding your location from your boss may not seem that great but remote workers argue that there is no clear &lsquo;need&rsquo; for disclosing their location. It all comes down to the company&rsquo;s culture and the type of behavior they promote. In 2023, it is safe to conclude that over-controlling companies that seem to copy concentrations camp do not have happy employees and people leave such companies in a heartbeat.

This trend has the HR departments alerted. Due to rapidly changing times, most employees believe that it is not necessary to disclose their location if they are allowed remote work from their companies. At the same time, there is a need for proper policies by the HR departments to fully address these concerns and bring everyone on board with better and more accepting work environments that priorities employees&rsquo; mental health and peace over fruitless policies.
