It is inserted in the veins of the arm or hand.

Peripheral IV catheters, also known as drip or cannula, are short and inserted into small veins in the lower part of the arm, the back of the hand, or the foot.

This is inserted into a large vein, usually below the collarbone.

A CVC is a long, flexible catheter that is inserted into a large vein in the neck, chest, or groin and leads to the vena cava. Also known as a Quinn or Central Line, it can be used for up to 29 days to receive drugs, blood, fluids, or any other long-term treatment. It also helps draw blood.

	<li>A tunneled central venous catheter is a long catheter that is surgically inserted into the neck or chest and tunnels under the skin for 8-10 cm and then exits from a different area of the chest.
