These myths can cause anxiety, fear, and delays in seeking necessary screening and treatment.<br />

According to the CDC, women under the age of 45 make up about 9% of all new cases of breast cancer in the country, and these cases are more likely to be discovered at an advanced stage<sup><a href="#accordion">[1]</a></sup>.<br />

<h5 style="text-align:justify"><strong>Myth 2: Breast Cancer Develops Because of Sugar Consumption</strong></h5>

Because sugar is addictive and can cause mood swings, obesity, and disease, many doctors and health professionals advise people to cut back on or restrict their intake. Obesity and weight gain, in particular, can raise the risk of developing a variety of malignancies. Nevertheless, contrary to popular belief, sugar does not promote the growth of tumors.</p>

<p style="text-align:justify">There is no specific link that exists between sugar and breast cancer, but eating excessive amounts of any meal can lead to weight gain and other health problems, which can raise the chance of breast cancer. <p style="text-align:justify">Experts have been researching whether there is a relationship between cancer and hair dye, but the findings have not been conclusive. According to a recent report from the National Institutes of Health published in 2019, consistent use of these chemical hair products might increase the likelihood of developing breast cancer<sup><a href="#accordion">[6]</a></sup>. Specifically, the study found that females who use permanent hair dye and chemical hair straighteners are at a higher risk of developing breast cancer compared to those who do not use these products.</p>

Nevertheless, one can lower their chances of developing breast cancer by leading a healthy lifestyle, being mindful of the risk factors, and adopting an early detection plan to ensure early diagnosis, if breast cancer were to occur.<br />

<h5 style="text-align:justify"><strong>Myth 14: Men Do Not Get Breast Cancer</strong></h5>

Although this figure is relatively small, men must perform breast self-exams periodically while showering and promptly inform their doctors of any unusual changes.</p>
