Overview

Cardiogenic shock is a life-threatening condition in which the heart is unable to pump enough blood to the body.

While the prognosis of cardiogenic shock has relatively improved over the years, the incidence rate of the condition in patients with heart attacks has remained unchanged.<a href="#accordion">[1]</a>

The condition has traditionally occurred more frequently in men compared to women. However, in recent times, women present with a higher incidence rate than men.

Moreover, studies show that Asian/Pacific Islanders are the most affected population, followed by Caucasians and Hispanics.<a href="#accordion">[2]</a>

Sign and Symptoms

The signs and symptoms of cardiogenic shock can vary depending on the underlying cause and the severity of the condition.<a href="#accordion">[3]</a>

They also inquire about the patient&#39;s symptoms and perform a physical examination to assess vital signs, such as blood pressure, heart rate, and respiratory rate.
